First Annual Women’s Pajama Party!!!

What a night it was. We gathered together on May 14^th, not knowing exactly what to expect. Well, you know that our church’s tag line is “Come Expecting the Unexpected” and I should have known that it was not going to be an ordinary evening. We started out pretty quiet with makeovers, pictures and food. Boy did we have food. We had some very special ladies come and gussy us up. There must have been something in the makeup and hair spray they were using, because things begin to change. Before we all knew what was happening we had a runway and those ladies were strutting their stuff and showing off their beautiful jammies to some wild and crazy song called “Play that Funky Jesus Music”. What was happening? There was boas and dancing and laughter, lots of laughter. I was shocked as I saw our Golden Apples put our younger ladies to shame. In fact one of our Golden apples was crowned Queen of the runway. Things begin to wind down and what did we do? We had more food and a crazy lady Christian comedian video. The laughter rose again!

What was this all about? This was about ministry. As women, we have many roles that we must play on a daily basis and sometimes we get tired and weary. The bible says in Proverbs 17: 22 that a cheerful heart is good medicine. I believe this is so true. I saw worries and weariness melt away as these women begin to enjoy themselves and laugh at one another. I can just here the religious people saying, “Well, I’ve never”. That’s right and you will probably never know the freedom these women had. I honestly believe that Jesus was laughing too.

I think this will be the first of many fun activities that our ladies will be hosting. Until then, keep laughing.
